Everyone can agree that the 2010s had some of the best music albums of all time.
Some of the popular artists include Lady Gaga, A$AP Rocky, Bruno Mars and Beyoncé.
These artists peaked in the 2010s, but some of them are making a comeback with their new albums.
Lady Gaga was a very popular artist in the 2010s, releasing eight albums during that decade. Gaga’s new album “Mayhem”, dropped on March 7.
“I’m really excited to listen to the new Lady Gaga album,” said Cal High junior Addie Stockwell before the album was released. “Her albums always have a mix of emotions and different styles.”
Gaga’s previous album, “A Star is Born”, was released in 2018 and was a massive hit. It featured 34 songs and was nominated for seven Grammy awards.
Lady Gaga has reached popularity not just in the US but worldwide. Her monthly listeners on Spotify are 122.7 million people.
There are more big artists coming back like Beyoncé, who was really big in the 2010s and returned to the music scene in a big way in March 2024 with the release of her latest album, “Cowboy Carter”.
The album features 26 songs and it is really successful despite transitioning from pop to country. Beyoncé won not just Country Album of the Year, but also Album of the Year.
“I think Beyoncé is a really good artist, but I don’t believe her album was country enough,” Stockwell said. “She had good albums in previous years but her recent one wasn’t as good.”
Her monthly listeners on Spotify currently exceed 58.5 million people.
Like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé once again proved herself with a career revival.
A$AP Rocky, a very popular rapper in the 2010s, is releasing a new album called “Don’t be Dumb”. There is no official release date yet, but it should drop sometime in the coming months.
A$AP Rocky is famous in the rap industry all around the world. His Spotify listeners per month are 37.8 million, and his upcoming album will get him even more listeners.
His last album was in 2018 and gained a lot of popularity. It had 15 songs, and people loved it. Fans have been looking forward to what he’ll put out next.
“He’s A$AP Rocky,” senior Grayden Wright said. “I can’t wait to listen to him. It’s been five years.”
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars made a song in 2024 which highlighted the life of 2010s pop making a comeback.
The song called “Die with a Smile”, was really popular. On Spotify it had 1.9 billion streams. People responded well to the track and it was the top streamed song at that time.
Bruno Mars was one of the most popular artists in the 2010s, with his most famous song, “Uptown Funk”, which made a huge impact on his career.
Bruno Mars’ 2016 album “24k Magic” was a huge hit. One of Mars’ songs has more than 2 billion streams. Mars’ first album in the 2020s was in 2021. His album was called “An Evening With Silk Sonic”.
That album wasn’t as popular as his other albums. But the song he made with Lady Gaga helped him regain his popularity, reminding fans of his great influence on the music world during the 2010s.
Many people are patiently awaiting his new release, with 143 million Spotify listeners per month.
