“It Ends With Us” is a story about two strangers, Lily Blooms and Lyle Kincaid, blooming into lovers.
But Lily starts to figure out that Lyle is abusive. She has to break the cycle of abuse soon enough before it’s too late.
She finds out that her old lover “homeless guy”, Atlas Corrigan, is in town and now she has to pick between the two of them.
It’s either Lyle, an abusive but hot neurosurgeon with washboard abs, or Atlas, a kind and non-abusive self-deprecating old love interest.
Lyle’s jealousy and abuse gets even more extreme when he sees Lily reconnecting with Atlas.
Everyone has heard of the classic strangers to lovers and enemies to lovers trope. But have you heard of colleagues to enemies?
In the case of this movie, which is adapted from the best- selling novel of the same name, this has to do with the actors Blake Lively and her co-star/director Justin Baldoni and their off screen dispute.
Lively and Baldoni’s controversy started back in 2024 and now it now appears the dispute will be out in court.
Lively threw the first punch at Baldoni by filing an 80-page lawsuit against him alleging he fat shamed and sexually harassed her on the set of “It Ends With Us”.
On top of that, she claimed he made her experience severe emotional distress and anguish.
She also included he allegedly hired a group to do a social manipulation campaign to destroy her name.
This led to her later suing Baldoni and the whole production team because she thought they were trying to ruin her reputation.
But on Jan. 16, Baldoni returned the punch back to Lively and filed a 179-page defamation lawsuit stating that everything Lively had alleged against him was completely false.
The New York Times reported Baldoni as saying that Lively was trying to use her popularity to “hijack every aspect” of the movie.
He also alleged that she tried to blame him when her public reputation was damaged when she was trying to promote the film.
But Baldoni wasn’t entirely the only one who was a part of the lawsuit.
People such as the film’s lead producer, Jamey Heath, and the publicists, Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel, are all a part of this suit against Lively.
They are seeking $400 million from Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for the damages they say Lively had caused.
Multiple news stations reported on Jan. 22 that Baldoni and the team had released behind the scenes raw videos of what was actually going on to further explain there was no sexual harassment and fat shaming on set.
They stated that they want society to know they have nothing to hide and will potentially release more revealing videos in the future.
But society fights back. People who support Lively are saying that in the video released they can clearly see Lively shows a little bit of discomfort because of the way Baldoni was holding her in the slow dancing montage scene they were filming.
In Lively’s lawsuit, she reportedly stated that Baldoni had chosen to keep the camera rolling and have them perform the scene.
But she alleges that Baldoni didn’t act in character as Ryle. Instead, he spoke to Lively out of character as himself.
She further explains that he would caress her neck with his mouth in a certain way that had nothing to do with their roles.
She reportedly said in that part of the movie their characters barely started to develop enough feelings for each other to act in such a way.
Lively also reportedly states that every time Baldoni would go in for a kiss, she would slightly lean away and ask him to just talk.
Due to this whole controversy, the actors and their parties have sued each other for damages totaling about $900 million.
That’s right. Nearly $1 billion in damages.
As much as the controversy may be entertaining to some, others may want to see how it actually plays out and is resolved down the road.
When is the whole truth finally going to unveil itself and what does the future actually hold for the two celebraties? Wait and see.
It ends with a lawsuit
