It’s that time of year again when all of the family gathers around to watch classic holiday movies like “Home Alone” and “Elf”, or the classic animated specials like “Frosty The Snowman”.
But for every classic Christmas movie, there are a lot of holiday films that just plain stink like old fruitcake.
Today, we will be reviewing the three worst Christmas movies of all time. Enjoy if its possible.
“The Princess Switch”
First up we have “The Princess Switch” from Hallmark’s crappy cousin during the holidays, Netflix.
Vanessa Hudgens stars as the Duchess of Montenaro but also Stacy De Novo, a home-town baker.
This is a very campy parent-trap type of movie, but at least “The Parent Trap” has some substance to it. Like “The Parent Trap”, the main characters end up switching places in life and loving it for the better. So they end up staying in their new lives, but the movie comes off more dry than the food served at the cafeteria.
The acting and the script are as lifeless as Grandma after getting run over by the proverbial reindeer.
Overall, “The Princess Switch” is a fun movie if you want to turn off your brain and watch something lifeless. But for those who want more from their holiday movie experience, stay away from this one.
“12 Dog Days of Christmas”
Next up from NBC’s Peacock is a perfect blend of bad content and even worse user programming. The “12 Dog Days of Christmas” is comically bad.
I decided to look up Christmas films Peacock has out of pure boredom and oh my. Every one of these movies were horrible, but this one stuck out in particular. And that’s saying something.
With some of the worst screen writing I’ve ever seen, the story follows Jack, who sets a business’ sign on fire and is sentenced to 120 hours of community service at a local animal shelter. A few cringe scenes later he meets a girl named Ryan, who he nicknames (get this) Cryan.
They really are a perfect match because of how mopey they both are.
To make a long story short, they end up saving the pound and keeping all of the puppies safe. But the actors’ expressions after doing this are just as lifeless as the movie itself.
Honestly, we can find better actors at Cal High, including some of the teachers pretending they like their jobs.
“Barbie: A Perfect Christmas”
Finally, we have “Barbie: A Perfect Christmas”. Based on the children’s doll, the film transforms Barbie into an animated character designed to attract the same audience who would play with the toy.
If you don’t play with the doll, don’t watch the movie.
While the movie has a good message and themes about insecurity, it’s presented in an extremely generic way even for little kids. The plot is very ordinary and even the magic of what makes Barbie so unique, such as the catchy music and sweet voice acting, is just bland. Barbie’s personality is presented in a messy way as her bright, positive attitude doesn’t shine up until the very end.
While Christmas is a symbol of joy, these movies create quite the opposite feeling.
