Many celebrities and famous figures have shown support for the presidential candidate they think should win the 2024 election.
Big names such as Anne Hathaway, Kanye West, and many others have voiced their opinions.
Celebrities express their opinions about the election, influencing their fans’ decisions when it comes to voting in the election.
While many A-list celebrities have shown their support for Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, one famous supporter for former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, stands out as the richest person in the world.
At a rally in Charlottesville, NC, Trump announced that Elon Musk, the billionaire and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, was giving him $45 million every month to support his campaign. Musk has a net worth of more than $245 billion.
While many people buy Musk’s cars, they may not buy his political rhetoric supporting Trump. But there’s no doubt that Musk has an influence in this election, as money and funding is essential for running a successful campaign.
Many celebrities with more influence over their fans are spreading their support for Harris, the Democratic nominee.
After singer-songwriter Taylor Swift posted her endorsement for Harris and Walz, she added a link to Vote.gov, a website to register people to vote. This led more than 400,000 people to click on the link in about 24 hours.
Swift acknowledged how she is fearful about Artificial Intelligence (AI) after an AI-generated image of her endorsing Trump started circulating the internet. This moved her to announce her support of Harris.
After Swift endorsed Harris, Trump took to Truth Social, his social media platform, and posted, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
Although many Swifties may not have been more inclined to vote for Harris after seeing Swift’s endorsement, they certainly weren’t in favor of Trump attacking their favorite artist.
The verified X (formerly known as Twitter) account, “Taylor Swift Data,” shared that “I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT,” a response from supporters and fans of Swift to Trump’s Truth Social post, which was the 13th trending topic in the world.
Trump continued to use the attention from his conflict with Swift to promote his campaign, coming out with a shirt design that looks identical to her Eras Tour merchandise, only with his face plastered in the middle instead of hers.
Many other musical artists have voiced their support for Harris.
Singer Charli XCX, known for her new album “Brat,” endorsed Harris as well.
The pop singer posted on X that “Kamala is brat.”
This was referencing the “brat aesthetic,” which is circulating around social media after the success of Charli XCX’s album under the same name.
This sparked more support and excitement from Gen Z.
Harris’ social media pages fully embraced being labeled as “Brat”, and changed the theme of their pages to the iconic “Brat” green and “Brat” font.
Chappell Roan, the popular singer-songwriter who is also supported by Gen Z fans, was wary about showing support for either candidate at first.
“There’s problems on both sides,” Roan said in an interview with The Guardian.
After refraining from endorsing Trump or Harris, Roan faced major backlash all over social media.
Many people assumed that she secretly supported Trump but feared being controversial because she wasn’t endorsing Harris like other celebrities.
Roan clarified that her refusal to endorse either candidate was “completely taken out of context.”
In a video posted on Roan’s TikTok account, she explained to followers that “endorsing and voting are completely different.”
While she continues to reject endorsing a candidate for the election, she did voice her decision in her TikTok video.
“I’m voting for f–ing Kamala, but I’m not settling for what has been offered,” Roan said.
