Disney revealed in August concrete plans for whole new lands and park experiences at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, according to USA Today.
There are some mixed opinions about the changes to the Disney parks around the world, but I’m looking forward to seeing many of the new attractions announced. Here are some of the planned changes:
Disneyland Park in Anaheim: I think Splash Mountain changing to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was very unexpected. I don’t fully understand how “Song of the South” features racist stereotypes. I’m going to miss Splash Mountain, but I’m interested in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure once it opens on Nov. 15.
Some people argue that Splash Mountain was based on something racist from the “Song of the South” film, which was released in 1946. The movie idealizes life of Southern plantations where many slaves were used to keep up the farm and land. Slaves were considered owned by the plantation owners and were poorly mistreated.
Many say the new water ride will be a good change for Disneyland since it will still feature the thrills of Splash Mountain with a different theme. Splash Mountain is a classic attraction and it’s sad to see it go away, but we should give Tiana’s Bayou Adventure a chance at least.
The new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened on June 28 at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
California Adventure: Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab will open at Disney’s California Adventure between 2025 and 2026.
These rides have a lot of potential. I think that Robert Downey Jr. being featured as Iron Man in the Stark Flight Lab ride is a bonus. There is a ride called WEB Slingers, which is a Spider-Man ride with Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I think the Avengers land is small, so the Imagineers are going to expand the land by adding these two rides.
There also will be a ride based on the Pixar movie “Coco”, that is set to be constructed in 2026.
Walt Disney World: I’m excited about the Villains Land. I mean, a whole land that has villains? Interesting. I also think the “Monsters Inc.” ride being added at Hollywood Studios is interesting, too. The ride as a roller coaster is a cool concept. I can imagine riding through the Laugh Floor with Mike and Sulley.
I think the “Cars” themed ride will be located somewhere near Big Thunder Mountain, just like how Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is by Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland.
Animal Kingdom: There will be Indiana Jones and Encanto themed attractions in this Orlando theme park. I think the Indiana Jones ride at Animal Kingdom would be a great addition to the park, as well as the Encanto ride, too. I’m curious about how the ride layout will be. Probably a roller coaster, or a trackless ride.
