Where to find the best slice of pizza
Pizza is something so simple, yet so amazing. Bread, cheese, tomatoes, and other toppings all put into one creation. San Ramon has many pizza parlors, but which ones are the best? The only way to tell was to try all the pizza places in San Ramon. Here are my top three.
No. 3: Pizza My Heart
Pizza My Heart is a boardwalk and surf style pizza store, with pictures and paintings of surfers and huge waves hanging on the walls. Their signature Big Sur pizza consists of garlic, mushrooms, sausage, cheese, and pepperoni. It’s like a lighter meat lover’s pizza with mushrooms, and it’s definitely the best pizza there. I also tried their pepperoni pizza and was impressed. It wasn’t greasy, had a lot of pepperoni, but was super expensive by the slice, about $5.
No. 2: Zachary’s Pizza
Zachary’s has a wide selection of pizzas to choose from, with different types of crusts, sauces, and more. The Good Health Pizza is one of Zachary’s most popular pizzas, so I figured I’d give it a try. The first thing that caught my eye was the size of the pizza. Each slice is loaded with tons of thick tomatoes and a good amount of cheese. Under the monstrosity of tomatoes and cheese, there are pieces of chicken and spinach. The most standout aspect about this pizza is the huge, crispy thick crust.
For taste alone, Zachary’s takes the first place medal. But the price point is very high, with pizzas being as expensive as $30-$35. So if you love hearty, filling pizzas, and aren’t worried about money, Zachary’s is the perfect choice.
No. 1: Mountain Mike’s
Mountain Mike’s is a classic pizza place with standard options and two locations in San Ramon. This place tops my list because of its very fair prices, while not compromising on taste. A large pizza generously serves 2-3 people for $18. I ordered a standard pepperoni pizza and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t too greasy, had a nice crust, tons of pepperoni on it, and a hefty amount of cheese. I would recommend Mountain Mike’s for teens on a budget. So if you love a traditional pizza with thin crust and reasonable prices, Mountain Mike’s is the place to go.
Overall, Mountain Mike’s is the best place to go for taste and price. I wouldn’t recommend eating in the restaurant since it doesn’t have the greatest atmosphere, but it’s the perfect place for takeout. If you want an enjoyable dine-in experience and aren’t on a budget, head over to Zachary’s.
