He’s the guy that wants to give everyone $1,000 a month and loves to crowd surf at rallies and debates. He’s the math loving philanthropist and entrepreneur, Andrew Yang.

Yang started his life in New York getting bullied when he was a little kid for being Asian. But Yang persevered and went on to go to the U.S. debate team and competed at the World Championships in London.

Yang went to college at Brown University majoring in economics and political science. He then went on to go to Columbia Law School. After graduating from Columbia University, Yang went on to have a normal desk job, but found it  boring and dissatisfying.

Yang decided to create his own test prep company known as Manhattan Prep, and earned more than $1 million annually. But he still wasn’t quite satisfied, so he founded Venture for America, a non-profit fellowship which helped train young entrepreneurs to create jobs and successful businesses.

Yang’s been running Venture for America until recently when Yang decided to run for president.

Yang’s main policy proposal is a universal basic income, in which everyone in the United States older than 18 years old, no matter their economic status, is given $1,000 a month.

Yang is also focusing on the environment and creating sustainable power and easing America off of fossil fuels. He is also for criminal justice reform, and wants to legalize marijuana, as well as combat gun violence through a tiered licensing system. Throughout his campaign, Yang has been the underdog and has never been included in the main polls. But as of lately, he is gaining traction as he is one of the only candidates that understands technology.
