Homecoming Game: SRVHS at Cal
The Grizzlies varsity football team looks to bounce back after consecutive losses, including a heartbreaking 15-14 defeat at Monte Vista last Friday night.
Cal (6-2) will seek revenge on the other Danville high school when San Ramon Valley comes in Friday night for the Grizzlies’ homecoming. The Wolves (5-3) are looking for a little revenge of their own after losing their homecoming game last year to Cal, 21-17, on the game’s final minute. San Ramon is coming off a loss to De La Salle. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
In last Friday’s game against two of the top-ranked teams in NCS, Cal was leading 14-7 until the Mustangs scored on a fourth down run from the 3-yard line with 28 seconds left. Monte Vista went for the win and converted the 2-point conversion run.
The Grizzlies took a 14-7 lead just before the half when senior Daniel DeSoto scored on a 1-yard TD run. The Mustangs had tied the game earlier in the half at 7-7 on a 27-yard TD pass. Cal got on the board midway through the first quarter on a 5-yard TD run by senior Hasani Savage.
Cal is now fifth in the NCS Division I rankings, just behind No. 4 Monte Vista and just ahead of No. 6 San Ramon Valley, according to MaxPreps.
