Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles Fly to Cal Friday Night
In a tough match-up featuring two of the NCS’s top-ranked teams, the Grizzlies face their biggest test to date as the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles fly into town Friday night.
Clayton Valley Charter (4-1) is a newcomer to the EBAL Mountain Division in football this season, currently boasts a No. 4 ranking in NCS by MaxPreps. Cal (5-0) is ranked 10th by MaxPreps.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Ugly Eagles are coming off a 55-13 romp over Berkeley last Friday, while the Grizzlies are fresh off a 35-14 butchering of the Granada Matadors. The game was Cal’s first against an EBAL opponent this season.
In the Sept. 27 game at Granada, senior running back Belal Altasi led the offensive charge by scoring three touchdowns. One came on a 43-yard run TD. Senior Beni Lata also scored a 2-yard rushing TD in the second quarter. Senior Hasani Savage scored for a 2-point conversion, while junior Ethan Watson caught a 28 yard pass for a TD from junior Nick Reid.
