Movie series suggestions from Dan Pan the Movie Man
Summer is nearly here, which can only mean one thing: sequels.
Apart from the regular Marvel movies and the inevitable adaptation of some blundisroman, there really isn’t anything out of the ordinary planned. Some French director probably once said, “A good movie is one that delights in surprise.”
Here are a humble few that the large studios will hopefully consider.
5. “The Social Network 2: Cambridge Analytica Boogaloo”
Zucky is really in deep trouble this time. Last time it was just a few million dollars and intellectual property theft. This time it’s the privacy of over 50 million Facebook users and the United States presidency.
Furthermore, with the backdrop of an international love story, a sex scandal, and even a raging discussion about booster seats in Congress, there will be no better movie to offer an early retrospective on the Trump Era.
4. “Neko Atsume 2”
From the team that made “Samurai Cat” and “Neko Ninja,” it seems only right to tackle the “Neko Atsume” franchise as well.
With the app’s intricate plotlines and lore, it will demonstrably be the greatest filmic undertaking, only short of Kubrick’s “A Catwork Orange,” which was a short and sweet love story between cats and oranges. And yes, there was a “Neko Atsume” movie.
3. “3001: A Final Odyssey”
With “La La Land” tackling classics such as “Singing in the Rain” and “Moonlight’s” beautiful rethinking of Wong Kar-Wai’s “Happy Together,” it is prime time to actually drag a movie from the graveyard.
Following the trend of explosions over plot, there would be few movies that can top a Michael Bay directed “3001: A Final Odyssey.” For those that do not know, this is the final book in the “Space Odyssey” series.
In the book, HAL 9000, a computer and David Bowman, a member of the original “2001: A Space Odyssey” voyage, has now become one person. Together as Halman, they are on a mission to save humanity by uploading a computer virus into the Monolith.
2. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”
There is no better way to start off the summer than with another Marvel movie, and what better Marvel movie than “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”? If the fall of “Transformers” hasn’t been enough, it seems like the formula of putting bigger explosions into things while forgetting the plot is only going to continue from here.
1. “Isle of Cats”
With the recent “Isle of Dogs,” Wes Anderson has created quite a stir within the pro-feline community. People are outraged by the clear discrimination that this movie presented. If the fox lovers, dog lovers and cat lovers of the world were to finally put aside their differences the next logical step would be “Isle of Cats.”
These are just a few of the many suggestions I have. For copies of full screenplays please write to the DVHS newspaper: The Wildcat Tribune.
