Warriors and Cavaliers destined to meet in Finals
The NBA playoffs are underway and the Golden State Warriors are looking to ride their overall top seed to another championship run.
The Warriors clinched the top seed in the Western Conference and overall with 67 wins, while the Boston Celtics finished first in the Eastern Conference.
For the past two seasons the Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers have dominated their conferences with their stellar starting lineups earning them a spot in the finals.
This year shouldn’t be any different as both the Warriors and Cavs have gone 8-0 to sweep their opponents out of the first two rounds.
From now until early June, the top NBA teams will face off in hopes of making it all the way to the finals. Until then a lot of hard work needs to be done.
But many teams have proven to be strong and persistent competitors this past season, and that mentality will have to be kept up if they want to make it to the end.
Round one started with the top eight teams from both conferences facing off night after night in a best-of-seven series.
Top contenders in the Western Conference include the Warriors and the No. 2 seed San Antonio Spurs.
The Warriors swept the Portland Trailblazers 4-0 in the opening round.
The Spurs also won their opening series against the Memphis Grizzlies and are tied 2-2 with the Houston Rockets in the second round.
In the Eastern Conference, the Celtics and the Cavaliers are expected to face off in the conference finals.
The Cavaliers already have earned themselves a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals after beating the Raptors. They will play either the Celtics or Wizards moving forward. That series is tied 2-2.
The Cavaliers swept the Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors in the first and second rounds, respectively. Toronto Raptors beat Milwaukee in six games in the first round.
The Celtics and the Chicago Bulls series came to a close with the Celtics winning 4-2 in the opening round, but Washinton is giving Boston a real fight.
The Warriors once again swept the Jazz in an easy four games in round two and will move onto the Western Conference Finals to play either the winner of the Spurs-Rockets series.
The Warriors and Cavaliers seemed destined to meet again, as The Finals are expected to start June 1.
Whichever two teams make it to the finals will have to duel it out, especially considering the talent that has been seen on the court over the course of this past season.
All teams have their fair share of star players and talent that will need to continue to work together if they want to earn their shot at a 2017 NBA Championship ring.
