Netflix and cheat
Imagine a world where every Netflix and chill session is built on lies.
Betrayed, hurt, jealous. These are just some of the emotions one feels after becoming a victim of the worst dating felony possible: Netflix cheating.
You may be wondering: What exactly is Netflix cheating? It is the act of watching an episode of a show by yourself after previously agreeing to watch said show exclusively with a significant other.
“But my boyfriend/girlfriend/person I’ve been talking to but doesn’t want to make things official would never do that” you say?
No, shockingly enough, this is not some obscure occurrence affecting a handful of couples. Nearly 50 percent of couples commit this “streaming infidelity,” according to a study conducted by Netflix.
The warning signs are there.
If your significant other appears to get uncomfortable when you bring up watching a new episode, or maybe they just don’t appear to be interested while watching “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.
You may assume they just don’t really like that show.
You would be wrong. Everyone loves Kimmy Schmidt.
Or maybe you realize “Sausage Party,”, the most romantic movie of all time, has moved from your “continue watching” section to “watch it again”. You can be certain this has nothing to do with Netflix. Your partner has finished it, credits and all, without you.
On top of that, it is always best to assume the worst in a relationship.
There are ways to ensure that this will never happen.
Most often, cheaters will do so when their partner is busy and unable to binge-watch with them.
To stop this from happening, never leave your significant other. If you are always with them, they cannot watch anything without you.
If it is completely necessary to leave them alone at any point, simply install cameras in all of their Netflix-enabling devices, so you can make sure they’re not finishing that last episode of “Orange is the New Black” without you.
Laptops with built-in cameras are perfect for this. All you have to do is hack into them and stream the webcam onto your own device. I’m sure there is a tutorial for that on YouTube.
Those who have already discovered that they’re being Netflix-cheated suffer an emotional turmoil that no other event can match.
Maybe it’s because they’re boring.
Or maybe they are a sicko who tries to spread out watching episodes of “Stranger Things” instead of binge-watching it in one weekend.
But most likely it’s because their “chill” just wasn’t satisfying enough.
