New styles of the high fashion world
The year 2017 has kicked off with many surprises in the fashion world.
Paris Fashion Week 2017 showcased a lot of creative new styles for pre-fall collections.
The Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration was the most-discussed collection so far. Balenciaga also gained a lot of recognition by inferring political messages as they combined the Bernie Sanders campaign logo in their men’s FW 17 collection.
The surprise Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration got exposure from rappers such as Travis Scott and A$AP Bari, who quickly took to social media to spread their praise. Louis Vuitton’s creative director for menswear, Kim Jones, told Vogue that the whole collection was inspired by the glory days of New York artists in the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s.
The entire collection wasloosely fitted with wider leg pants, drop-crotched trousers, long sweaters, floppy shirts, and big homey coats, giving it a laid back 1980s vibe. The bandanas, jackets, shirts, and duffels are expected to be in high demand.
The surprise collaboration proved to be a success and many people loved it as they were impressed by their designs and marketing strategy.
“I think this will be one of the most interesting and most talked about collaborations that ever happened,” founder of MACHINE-A, Stavros Karelis, told Highsnobiety. “It will become a reference point in fashion history of how two masters of branding have come together to create a collection to satisfy such a diverse group of customers. From a retail and marketing point of view, I find it brilliant.”
Despite Balenciaga being a Spanish design house, it voiced American political messages with its collection. Designer Gvasalia incorporated lots of red, white and blue into the Balenciaga logo, which looks very patriotic and channels Vermont Senator Bernie Sander’s presidential campaign designs.
This look was used on the jackets and shirts. It was also incorporated in all the looks by having the logo painted on the models’ nails. This gained a lot of attention on Twitter from high fashion enthusiasts and Sanders’ supporters, who appreciated the way the brand recognizes the independent politician.
The Acne Studios 2017 Pre-Fall collection ranged from bohemian to contemporary cool, deriving most of its influence from underground ’70s rock-star culture and couture. The collection used an array of colorful and bold prints, ranging from multicolored stripes to baby blue and peachy butterflies and flowers on trousers and dresses.
The Off-White collection was ’80s inspired with the use of big coats that accentuate shoulders. This collection was darker than others and included loose-fitted boxy clothing. Each outfit had pops of color from the bold and intricate embroidered prints or the big Off-White logo printed on the front.
The use of pastel yellows and pinks appeared plenty of times on the runway from brands such as Christian Dior and Alberta Ferretti. Both brands, especially Dior, had see-through mesh and lace skirts.
Shocking the fashion world with new collaborations and designs, the top brands of the industry have introduced fresh trends that we’re dying to try out and have in our closets for the rest of the year.
