Tribute to Deceased Entertainers
In 2016, the public has seen the tragic deaths of very noteworthy entertainers.
David Bowie, singer-songwriter, died on January 10, 2016. He died at the age of 69 due to cancer.
He is known and missed for his great music and “out there” attitude. David Bowie was comfortable with his open bisexuality in a time where it was not common to publicly discuss. Bowie dressed and acted how he wanted to.
His top songs were “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” and “Moonage Daydream.” Bowie has influenced current singers in his genre.
Not even a week after David Bowie’s end, Alan Rickman became another victim of cancer. On January 14, 2016, Rickman died at the age of 69.
Alan Rickman is an actor and director from the United Kingdom. He was known as a great actor and for his unique voice.
People of all ages are familiar with his work due to the variety of roles he played and the length of his career. The younger generations recognized Rickman as Professor Severus Snape from “Harry Potter” series.
He is also well known for his role in “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” (1991) as Sheriff George of Nottingham , “Die Hard” (1988) as Hans Gruber, and the voice of the Caterpillar in “Alice in Wonderland” (2010). He was able to reprise the role in “Alice Through The Looking Glass” before his death. The film will release on May 27.
The most recent entertainer’s death was Prince, who died on April 21, 2016, at the age of 57, due to a simple illness he could not shake.
Prince is known for being a great singer-songwriter. He has gotten multiple songs on the Billboard Hot 100, even getting number one.
His top three songs are “When Doves Cry”(1984) , “Kiss”(1986), and “Let’s Go Crazy”(1984). One of his most well known songs to this day is “Purple Rain” (1984).
He continued releasing new albums and songs until his death. Prince began his career a long time ago, and he has left an imprint in society.
Entertainers are not just objects to gawk at. They were real people who influenced others, leaving a hole when they die.
2016 is only halfway done, and the world has already said goodbye to well loved entertainers that left too early.
