Summer blockbusters hit theaters
“Jurassic World”
Taking place 22 years after the events of “Jurassic Park,” the Central American island of Isla Nublar has finally become a fully functioning dinosaur theme park.
However, a hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, escapes, and it’s up to Velociraptor trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and the park’s security team to catch the escaped dinosaur.
Students will be able to catch this new installment in the “Jurassic Park” franchise on June 12, marking the first day of summer vacation.
“Inside Out”
Midwestern girl Riley is forced to adjust to her new urban life in San Francisco, and is guided by the five emotions that reside in Headquarters, the control center of her mind.
Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling), the five emotions found in everyone, must work together to ensure that Riley can adjust to her new life.
“Inside Out” will be released on June 19, a week after “Jurassic World.”
“Inside Out” is Pixar Animation Studios’ next big summer hit. Animation enthusiasts are sure to find enjoyment in Pixar’s latest creation starting June 19.
“Minions”
A spin-off of the acclaimed animated “Despicable Me” franchise, “Minions” takes place decades before either of the “Despicable Me” movies.
The movie focuses on the Minions, goofy characters that appeared prominently in both “Despicable Me” movies.
“Minions” tells of the Minions’ backstory, mentioning how they evolved from single-celled organisms, dedicating their lives to serving villains.
Due to the Minions’ incompetence, they isolate themselves in Antarctica, until one of the Minions, Kevin (Pierre Coffin), along with Minions Stuart and Bob travel to a villain convention to find a new villain to work for.
While competing to serve Scarlett Overkill (Sandra Bullock), the world’s first female supervillain, they run into a force that threatens the existence of the Minions.
“Minions” comes to theaters July 10. If you’re taking a trip to Australia, you’ll be able to catch it there earlier on June 18.
“The Fantastic Four”
When four young, normal people teleport to an alternate universe, they end up gaining superhuman abilities and new forms.
Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller), Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan), Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), and The Thing (Jamie Bell) must join forces to take down a common enemy.
The enemy is an anti-social programmer known as Doctor Doom (Toby Kebbell).
The reboot of Marvel’s four man super team drops on August 7.
What better way to end summer vacation than to see four superheroes in action?
“The Fantastic Four” is sure to be a “fantastic” way to close off several weeks of bliss.
