Everyone feels the need to have a Valentine on the day of red hearts, roses, chocolates and stuffed animals. But why spend all that money on just one day out of the 365 in the year?
Valentine’s day used to be free of pressure. When high school came around, hormones hit and every girl needed a boyfriend to be happy.
Let’s be honest for a moment, back to real life. Girls, it’s very unlikely that you’re going to be with the same guy for the rest of your life, from this moment on.
If that’s the case, then why are you spending so much money on him in the first place? Go out and treat yourself, instead.
Couples on Feb. 14 seem to be a little extra clingy and much nicer to each other than they are on normal days.
On campus, there are girls with “ginormous” stuffed animals, bouquets of roses, balloons, chocolates, and a guy on their arm.
But I’m pretty sure you can buy all that on a normal day too, so why is this day so special?
It’s actually gross to see couples making out in the hallways, chewing each others’ faces off, because this one day brought them chocolates and roses.
Do you honestly think anyone wants to see you sucking your boyfriends face?
We don’t.
If you want chocolate, go buy it yourself.
To make things worse, couples feel the need to make everything “Facebook Official”.
Come on, you’re just asking for attention by posting so much stuff about your relationship. No one honestly cares about how in love you are after three weeks of dating your new boyfriend, really.
The same goes for the middle schoolers who are so deeply enamored with one another. News flash, you’re 12. So please stop telling everyone how in love you are.
And then there are those couples that post “I love you” on each others’ walls every day. The only person who likes the wall post, is the other person in the relationship.
If you have to broadcast your relationship on a social network then you really need to take up a better hobby.
My favorite group is the girls who claim to love being single and celebrate Valentine’s Day as “Single Awareness Day.”
Let’s be honest, you’re probably not happy about being single. You’re probably jealous that you aren’t in one of these cheesy, cliche relationships, too.
If you were really celebrating “Single Awareness Day,” you wouldn’t post all about it on social networking sites , or write articles in the newspaper, because you wouldn’t want the attention.
