The holidays are right around the corner and that can only mean one thing. That’s right, it is time for the annual concerts put on by Wild 94.9 and 99.7 Now. The rival stations are gearing up for these great events which feature some of today’s hottest artists.
Wild Jam
Headlined by Drake, this concert is sure to live up to its name.
Huge stars like B.O.B., J. Cole, New Boyz, Taio Cruz, and Tyga will be performing.
“Wild Jam is always good, 94.9 knows how to have a concert,” said senior Nancy Tran, who will be attending Wild Jam.
The newcomers, J Cole and Tyga, will be experiencing their first performance at this concert series, while the rest of the line-up are Wild Jam alum.
All of the artists have had a single rank in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 within the last two years. Tyga seems to be the only one who does not fit this bill. His highest ranked single only reached No. 94 in 2008.
Because of Drake’s current popularity, it is expected that the concert should come close to selling out, matching the success of last year’s event.
“Its going to be be energizing and magical,” said junior Kayvaan Ghovanaloo. Wild Jam is at the HP Pavilion in San Jose on Sunday. It starts at 7:30 p.m.
Triple Ho Show 2.0
The Triple Ho Show 2.0 features seven major artists, all of which have had chart topping singles in recent years.
The major standouts are LMFAO, Flo Rida, Pittbull and Gym Class Heroes.
Pitbull pulled in at number 22 on the billboard top 100, showing that this concert is going to be star studded.
While no artist stands out as being the featured performer, many are flocking to this concert to see two bands.
The first, LMFAO, with its ever expanding popularity.
“LMFAO? Yeah, well that’s the only reason I’m going,” said sophomore Jessica Allen.
And the other is the recently rediscovered Gym Class Heroes.
“Stereo Hearts is my favorite song right now,” said freshman Hannah Chu of the current number six song on the Hot 100.
This concert should be quite an event and give Wild Jam a run for its money. But unlike Wild Jam it hasn’t sold out .
The Triple Ho Show 2.0 will be tonight at HP Pavilion. It starts at 7:30 p.m.
