The “Twilight Saga” has caught the attention of many twihards. The movies are based on the original books written by Stephenie Meyer.
So far, three movies have come out: “Twilight,” “New Moon” and “Eclipse.” The fourth movie, “Breaking Dawn Part 1” promises to be an attention grabber for many fans.
“Breaking Dawn Part 1” hits theaters on Nov. 18, with the second part scheduled for release on Nov. 16, 2012.
“I think its a good idea to break the movie into two parts,” said junior Nicole Smith. “It will keep the movie going and make people come back to it because they want to know what will happen next after seeing the first part.”
For those who are new to “Twilight,” here’s the lowdown. Edward Cullen is a vampire who lives with a family of other vampires, but they are not related.
Jacob Black is a werewolf who has relatives that are also werewolves and together, they form a pack. Vampires and werewolves are enemies in the “Twilight” series.
The protagnoist, Bella, is stuck in a love triangle, with Edward and Jacob fighting over her and forcing her to choose between them.
Her heart has always been with Edward, but Jacob has constantly pressured her to be with him.
“Bella should be with Edward because he is nicer and more romantic than Jacob,” said sophomore Serena Bandtell.
Junior Lauren Holden disagrees.
“In the books I like Edward’s character, but in the movies, I don’t like him as much, so I am definitely on team Jacob for the movies,” said Holden.
In “Breaking Dawn Part I,” Bella and Edward get married and go on a honeymoon, and Bella becomes pregnant with a half vampire baby.
Edward insists the child must be destroyed, and they are forced to decide whether or not to keep the baby.
Although some people believe Summit Entertainment could be breaking the last movie into two parts to make more money and drag out the series, “Breaking Dawn” is 754 pages, so it’s too long for one movie.
According to twilightsource.com, the first part may end when Bella opens her eyes, realizing they are red and she has been turned into a vampire herself.
Regardless of rumors, “Twilight” premieres are always a huge deal for fans, complete with some interesting traditions. Some fans make or buy shirts just for the movie. Others throw parties.
“There is always a lot of screaming in the theater before the movie actually starts, especially when Edward and Jacob appear on the screen,” said junior Courtney Glickman.
For the midnight premiere of “Eclipse” in 2010, fans started lining up at 4 p.m.
No doubt the lines will start early and stretch for blocks for “Breaking Dawn Part I” as well.
