THE WILLIAMSONS
Brian Williamson
Senior
Men’s varsity golf captain
Senior Bryan Williamson has been playing golf since his sophomore year.
“My dad was a big golfer,” said Bryan. “He was really the one who got me into golf.”
After playing baseball freshman year, Bryan switched to golf, and thinks very highly of his sister’s decision to play golf for the girls’ team.
“She is a hard worker with a lot of potential,” said Bryan, who enjoys playing with and teaching his sister.
“It is a sport you play your whole life,” said Bryan. Like a good sister, Claire agrees.
Claire Williamson
Sophomore
Women’s varsity golf
Sophomore Claire Williamson has been playing since she arrived at Cal High two years ago.
Two weeks before tryouts her freshman year, Claire started playing golf with Bryan. She is close to her older brother and looks up to him. She even uses Bryan’s old golf clubs.
“Bryan is a good golfer, when he puts his mind to it,” said Claire, who is influenced by Bryan.
“I feel like I have influenced him a little, but he has influenced me more than I influenced him,” said Claire.
THE SPELTZES
Cameron Speltz
Senior
Men’s varsity water polo
Senior goalie Cameron Speltz has been swimming all his life, but when he got to high school he decided to try water polo.
Although Cameron describes his brother, Oliver, as a “shmuck,” Cameron feels he influenced his brother’s decision to play water polo.
While he doesn’t practice much with his brother, Cameron sees great improvement in his brother’s skills. Cameron is unsure if he will play water polo after high school.
“It depends where I go to college,” he said.
Oliver Speltz
Freshman
Men’s JV water polo
Freshman Oliver Speltz plays wing for the JV water polo team after spending all of last summer attending practices and tryouts.
Oliver’s brother, Cameron, has greatly influenced Oliver to play water polo. When asked if Cameron has inspired Oliver to play water polo, Oliver replied, “Totes.”
Oliver aspires to get better at water polo as he continues through high school, so that he may one day play as well as his brother.
“He is a swell guy and a good goalie,” said Oliver.
