Administrators apprehended on Tuesday two students who are allegedly responsible for the recent garbage can fires in the main building bathroom, said Principal Mark Corti.
Corti declined to provide the names or grade levels of the students, and he would not elaborate on their punishment other than saying they received serious consequences.
“The police are involved and the appropriate discipline has been administered,” he said.
Though Corti would not comment on how the students were caught, administrators sent an email to parents on Monday offering a $200 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the individuals involved in the fires. This same offer was announced to students over the loudspeaker Tuesday morning.
The most recent blazes occurred in the third floor men’s restroom on Monday and Oct. 6. Administrators also reported a grassfire behind the school and a couch fire in the parking lot earlier this school year.
The two apprehended students have only been linked to the bathroom fires, but Corti said administrators will take action if additional information arises.
Administrators sent a message to teachers this morning regarding the apprehension of the students, and Corti said parents would be officially notified soon.
“There is a sense of alarm when it comes to fires being let around school,” he said. “It’s important parents know the school is safe.”
The Californian will update this story as more information arises pertaining to the two students and the fires.

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to report in the newspaper who the arsonists are so mr. corti wouldn’t tell the reporters who the arsonists were.

don’t we have a right to know the names?
